Governor Lynch Kicks Off Sales for NHCUL Calendar Raffle for Make-A-Wish Foundation

On October 19, 2011, New Hampshire Governor John H. Lynch was joined by members of the New Hampshire Credit Union League (NHCUL), representatives of the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of New Hampshire (Make-A-Wish®), credit union employees from throughout New Hampshire and local guests, to launch the sales season of the Make-A-Wish® 2012 Calendar Raffle. The event to launch the 2012 Calendar Raffle, which is limited to 2,500 calendars, featured speeches from representatives of both the NHCUL and Make-A-Wish®, and Governor John. H. Lynch. Governor Lynch purchased the first 2012 Calendar, and Wish Children, Raymond and Tommy were on hand to autograph the Governor’s calendar. Governor Lynch commended New Hampshire credit unions for assisting New Hampshire residents in the event of disasters, community based needs, and for meeting the needs of their members when called upon.

“I am proud of the dedication and contributions made by members of the New Hampshire Credit Union League in supporting the benevolent work of Make-A-Wish® to meet the needs of ill children and their families during some of their darkest times,” said NHCUL President, Daniel F. Egan, Jr.  “New Hampshire credit unions have enjoyed a 15 year partnership with Make-A-Wish® and, in fact, we are their largest corporate partner in the state.  During this time, we’ve raised $1.48 million dollars, supporting the hundreds of wishes for New Hampshire kids with serious medical challenges,” added Egan. “Starting this month and throughout the year, the credit unions of the NHCUL are joining forces to raise funds for Make-A-Wish®.  The Make-A-Wish® Calendar Raffle is in its fourth year and a fundraising goal of $140,000 has been set to support Make-A-Wish®. The NHCUL is grateful for the support of 460,000 New Hampshire residents who are credit union members, and for Governor Lynch’s support today,” added Egan.

Julie P. Baron, CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of New Hampshire, praised the philanthropic spirit and philosophy of New Hampshire’s credit unions.  “The Make-A-Wish Foundation® is so appreciative of the amazing partnership we share with the NHCUL. New Hampshire credit unions “live” and exemplify their sense of corporate social responsibility -“people helping people” - throughout the year.  Their impact has reached every corner of the state – and is key in assisting Make-A-Wish® reach a significant milestone:  the granting of our 1000th Wish in December of 2011,” said Baron.

The cost of the Make-A-Wish® Calendar Raffle is $25 and grants 368 prize drawings, throughout the year.  All sales proceeds will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of New Hampshire.  To purchase a Make-A-Wish Calendar,  please visit a local credit union in your community.
